Something New

I'm trying out a new app on my phone that let's me post blogs on the go. It's called Blogpress. I guess I will decide how I like it after I post this.

Here is the photo test. Me at the outlet mall today. Bought a cute little sundress at Gap outlet, size medium. (another test)

It has been so beautiful and warm and SUNNY here the past few days. It has really helped with getting my half marathon training going. As I finished my 4 mile "long" run for the week on Sunday it kind of took my breath away to realize I was only 1/3 of the way done with a half marathon. I thought There is no way I will ever be able to run 13-something miles. No way.

You know what they call that? Stinkin' Thinkin!

That's the same thing I thought about being able to run a whole mile just a few days before I did it. That's the same thing I thought about being able to run a 5k a few weeks before I did it. That's the same thing I thought about being able to maintain a healthy life style long enough to escape obesity just about a year before I did it. No way.

Well, turns out I was wrong all those other times and chances are--I'm wrong about this, too. The pattern points to success so I'm just going to keep putting in the miles and trust the process, as Jillian says.

Okay. Time to publish and see what I think about this new app...no spell check, sorry!

I told myself I couldn't run, then I ran my first race, a 4 miler, then I ran a 5K and another and another and then a 4 miler and then a 5K then a 10K then a 15K and then I ran a 1/2 marathon...
Then I had to back off because I was burning out and dreading it. Then I ramped it up again and ran 2 more 1/2's. Then I burned out again but this is due to my crazy schedule and not eating which I needed to fix.
It's stinkin thinkin to listen to that voice. You are amazing and you absolutely can!!! One thing I've done is memorize scripture verses so that when I'm running and those thoughts approach I start repeating the verses. There are times when I really am just physically exhausted but there are other times when it is solely mental and those verses remind me that I can do ALL things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me!!!
Yay for the size M sundress at Gap!!! Precious picture :)

Wow, 4 miles is awesome! No to the stinkin' thinkin. You'll prove yourself wrong again. You can do the 1/2 marathon, you're getting there and getting it done.

I need to stop my negative self talk as well and keep taking my baby steps. I hope to do my first 5k this summer. It will most likely be a walking 5k, but I will try for my fastest.

I might have told you this already, so if I did, please bear with me. I'm not a runner anymore *sniff* but back in the day when I was training, I remember feeling very nervous about completing my first (and only!) half marathon. I'd done plenty of 5 mile and 10K races, but never a half marathon. My boss at the time was a big runner. In fact, he was the one who motivated me to enter races as a way to keep myself disciplined in my running. Anyway, he told me that if I trained and could run at least half the distance of a half marathon, I'd be able to complete the run and he was right. Obviously, that's not ideal. You'd like to have run more than 6.5 miles on a long run before you shoot for 13, but it IS doable.

You CAN (C-A-N) do this! Don't listen to that stinkin' thinkin'. It's a lie, don't believe it. You're entirely capable of running a half marathon and I can't wait to hear all about it once you do.

Get out there, train responsibly and keep moving and you will accomplish your goals. Go get 'em Keelie!

Um, I guess I should have mentioned above that my boss was right and that I ran the half marathon in under 2 hours, which was my goal.

Yay!

I think so too. We are far more capable than we think we are, as those negative thoughts are a way of proving to ourselves that we're failures. So we can justify the self esteem demons in our head telling us we're not good enough. But we so are. We're all that and more. Why shouldn't we achieve the things we've only dreamed about?

Oh and you look radiant :-)

Ditto with everyone else..."You can do it!" You did a great job using your past successes to put that stinkin' thinkin' in its proper place.

I totally thought that about a 1 mile, then a 5K, & 10k than my 1/2 marathon, after completing all those I am now training for a full marathon and I KNOW I can and will finish it. You can do anything you want to. Our body's are amazing things. Good luck and keep it up!
