Stuff

I'm going to have to continue using my regular camera for my blog photos. I finally found the one thing this iPhone is not really good for. Ha!

This has been an interesting weekend for eating. I had to eat several meals out and even attended a birthday party. I managed to make good choices everywhere I went. I even passed on the super cute and yummy-looking birthday cake at the party. I had one hot dog and it was SO good. I don't even like hot dogs but this one was really burned. YUM-O! I know, I know...that's bad for me. I only had one though!

I made some homemade ice cream today. I recently acquired a brand new Cuisinart ice cream maker (awesome) and I had to try it out. To my credit, I did try a low-fat, low-cal version of vanilla first. As much as I tried to love it, I didn't. So today I made the real stuff. I made up a recipe for banana pudding ice cream. It was good. I probably ate a serving and a half while testing. First poor choice in about a week.

I am looking forward to some downward movement on the scale this week. I predict it will at least be 178 (which is the lowest I've been so far) but it is possible that it could be lower. I need to look it up, but I think 175 may be the magic number when I am no longer obese.

That is crazy to me. Because when I look at the picture I posted above, that does not look like the face of obesity to me. But it is. I think it would be pretty safe to say that people who think they are probably not over weight, probably are overweight. And people who think they are probably not obese, probably are obese. And people who probably think they are just obese, are probably morbidly obese.

Anyway....a lot of randomness here today. Not sure why. Just wanted to check -in. I have some really great post ideas for this week: one abut Jesus being fat, one about boobs, one about a new award I am creating and one hopefully about being smaller than I have been in nearly 10 years. Should be fun.

Enjoy the last few hours of this weekend!

Keelie you look awesome!! Im still trying to lose weight also and have been in a slump for over a month now, only losing 1 or so pounds this past month! I havent been trying very hard though. The weekends have been killers! Im trying to get back on track though. Although I had a slice of pizza for lunch( I feel I did good though cause I really could have eaten another piece or two!) I enjoy reading your blog and following you on your weight loss journey.I hope you have a great week!

You certainly look like you weigh a lot less than you do. I think I'm going to have to work on that hip to the side pose thing you do! Cause if you weigh 178--something is making those pounds invisible! Deb

Very recently, I hit the "overweight" category for the first time in a few years, and I told my husband, "Guess what, honey?? I'm OVERWEIGHT!!!" (with a big grin on my face). All 143 pounds of him looked a little confused until he realized what I meant by it all.

I think you're right about what people perceive about their weights and others' weight. Lately friends at church have really noticed the weight I've lost so far, and when I tell them I'm about half way to goal, they look at me like I've got two heads and wonder how much I plan to lose. I've still got another 40 pounds or so to go, folks!

It's almost like the entire nation has shifted a view of what is really a healthy amount of extra weight to carry around...(myself included, I'm sure!).

We also have that ice cream maker, and I have a hint that you may find helpful. If you like the taste of coconut at all, try using a can of full-fat coconut milk, some vanilla, and some sugar (or honey, chicory root extract, maltitol, etc). It's supposed to be a healthier fat that dairy cream, and it's very creamy and yummy!

Funny - I pulled out my ice cream maker yesterday too. I thought it would be fun to make some with the boy.

can i just say, i love the decor in your house!

OH, how i love a burnt grilled hot dog. i like all food cooked till carcinogic.
i've got a bday party this sunday, and i'm seriously thinking i should skip the cake. it's not worth it right now. i hate to say this, but my biggest apprehension about it is people being like, "don't you want a piece of caaake?" no, food pusher, i don't.

looking very much forward to all those post ideas for this week!!

You look awesome! I know what you mean about having a hard time seeing yourself as obese still; I struggle with that a lot. Sometimes its like I'm comfortable enough where I am now (compared to where I was) that I almost forget how far I still have to go. Keep on keeping on! :)

You look incredible! You do NOT look overweight in any photo you take of yourself. I'm looking forward to your new posts. :)

The other day, I was googling my BMI and in the "normal" weight range, I could be as low as 135 and as high as 178 and still be considered normal. I think a span of 40 lbs is crazy! But hey. Only 20 more lbs and I won't be overweight any more. At least according to that higher number.

You look great girl!

So the other day as I was sitting at Panera with my hubby, I saw a lady (a little bit older than you) who looked alot like you. She was much thinner, but the first thought that came to mind was...Hmmm, I bet that is what Keelie will look like when she hits her goal weight. She looked very healthy, fit and happy. :)

I know what you mean by those obese charts... I wonder, who makes those standards. I am all about being where God has created you to be and not be led by charts. You know? Definitely be healthy in eating and exercise but if you don't ever get to the "standard" set weight of the chart then oh well.

I know it says I should be about 100 pounds or so for my height, oh please... I remember trying to achieve that goal but never was successful. I was becoming an anorexic and an exercise bulimic to be 100 pounds back when I was 20. I realized that if I make conscious good choices I will be at the body weight God wants me to...

:) Chris
