On the Road Again

View from the open road

I guess God was tired of hearing me whine about the heat because we got a refreshing shower yesterday afternoon that cooled everything off. It was in the 80's last night when I did 4.3 miles walking/jogging and in the 70's this morning when I did a 2 mile walk.

The final hill of 4.3 mi. route

Happy to be "on the road again"

My favorite view--welcome reward at the end of a hot, sweaty workout.

Several of you suggested I just workout inside to beat the heat. I do have a gym membership, actually I have 2 at the moment, but it's the act of getting into the car to go there that is actually the thing I dread. I know, that's weak. I did finally force myself to go earlier this week.

I could workout in my house, and I do that too, but it is hard for me to complete a workout at my house. I don't know why. Maybe has to do with my offspring...But--I LOVE getting outside for a good run. I am still working back up to the level of fitness I was at in the spring so hopefully I will be able to call it "a run" very soon.

I can't even describe the feeling of closeness I feel with the Lord when I am exercising in His creation. I feel like every view, every little animal, every breeze--He is creating just for me. That is the most motivational gesture. I will not be taking a break from this anytime soon. I don't know how I ever quit.

I am getting my groove back. It's in Him.

I can totally see where you are coming from - you live with lots of beautiful nature all around you!!! I wish I lived somewhere like that - then maybe I would go out and exercise outside. Where I live - yeah, not so much. At SFASU, I used to love walking around and riding my bike around the different paths that were available. I really do miss that.

Then again, are you sure you live in TEXAS? How in the world did it get down to 80 and 70??? :) Enjoy!

I walk most mornings....at least 5-6 times a week....and I feel the same way. There's nothing like being outside...alone with nature...and the Lord!!! Keep up the good work...you're so beautiful inside and out!!!

I hate getting in the car to drive to a gym when I can just go outside and run. I totally get that.

Love your photos, girl!

Thanks to those pics, I now know why you prefer to exercise outside! Those are gorgeous surroundings to enjoy while you huff and puff :) One day, I hope to live in the mountains where the hills will keep my heart pumping, and the scenery will do just what it does for you: reveal God's glory and creative genius.

What a gorgeous view! I like working out inside. For some reason that makes me feel safer. As in - strangers aren't looking at me huffing and puffing. I like the atmosphere at my gym for that reason. At running club last Sat. We ran the 5 K route for our race and I just felt so "exposed" as cars were whizzing by. Even at 7 in the morning. It's because I don't see myself as a runner or an athlete. I just see me as a sorry wimp trying to get into shape. I'm working on changing my mind about that.

Yay you got out there!!! Awesome! I know what you mean about getting out in nature and talking to God. There is nothing like it. I love it too! I have always been a "workout indoors" doing aerobic videos type of girl, but now....I need to be outside.

Was up early and did my jog...oh it felt good. I noticed now that I am jogging more than walking. I was psyched about it!
