Yoga Mat Bag
For reaching my first goal, I rewarded myself with some work-out themed items including a yoga mat. If you read that post, then you may recall my so-called "work-out buddies." One of them looked a bit like this...
Working on his yoga poses. Angelic, is he not?
NOT! He managed to break the little rubber band thing that held my yoga mat together just a few hours after I purchased it! Not cool little buddy, not COOL.
Anyway, I decided to make a replacement bag. I have seen some really cute yoga mat bags around and they really aren't too expensive, but I had some fabric...
I do know how to sew a straight line, which is all my method would have required, but my machine is buried in a cabinet somewhere. I opted for hot glue and some iron-on adhesive instead.
I simply joined the two long ends of a rectangle together to make a tube--slightly larger than the diameter of the mat. I gathered several strands of heavy-duty yarn together for the strap. (In hindsight, not the best choice but it works.) Then I created a drawstring closure at the top and bottom with some coordinating ribbon.
I think it's pretty darn cute. And I like the bag, too.

So creative! Love it!
LOL your workout buddy is so adorable. And so is your new yoga mat bag!! ;)
Oh Keelie, I am so excited for you and proud. It is very hard work.
My main thing when I finally decided to lose weight was walking. I went everywhere with my handy dandy pedometer. I walked over 1700 miles(long story, seriously). Sadly the last two years with lots of stress most of the 60 pounds came back on. But I'm back to losing and will certainly stop by here to see how your doing.
Blessings,
Jilly
I love the yoga bag, it looks great
Hey! I think you might have a business in making mat covers! We both were in a creative mood this weekend!
Both are adorable!!!!
Love this! And I really love the zebra print fabric. I have a yoga mat that would love a cute cover. I'm actually going to the fabric store today and might look for fabric to do this project. Thanks!
