Today I got a new accessory. {I embrace my dorkiness}
Everyone has these and I thought I should have one also.
I'm just not sure what to do with it...
Ahh. There we go.
I am learning to love accessories. For so long I just felt like it was pointless to wear them. I thought I always looked bad so I just put my hair in a pony tail, slapped on a little make up (sometimes) and that was it.
I felt bad about myself. I felt UGLY. Plain and simple. It makes me so sad to think about that.
The remarkable thing is that after just a few weeks, days actually, of nurturing my body with appropriate food and activity, that outlook began to change. I began to feel LESS ugly. I began to care a little more about the make up. I began to take more time on my hair. I would sometimes consider earrings or even a necklace.
I began to actually look in the mirror. I began to do it more often and for longer periods of time. One day when I looked--the reflection looking back at me didn't seem ugly anymore. It seemed a little bit pretty. This mini transformation happened without me losing hardly any weight at all. More proof that this is SUCH a mental game.
I know that life is not all about how we look--believe me! Some day I'll get on my soap box...but as a woman, I need to feel pretty. It helps with confidence and social interaction and treating your husband right ;) and all that good stuff...
So, I'm curious...what helps you feel pretty? Besides chartreuse scarves of course.

You ARE pretty, so you should feel that way and I'm glad you do. Pampering myself makes me feel pretty. I'm very much a jeans and t shirt kinda girl, so clothes don't really do it for me. But new lip gloss or a nice scrub in the shower, or a new body spray will have me holding my head up high and smiling all day long. Which makes me want to eat better and exercise that day. You are so right, it is such a MENTAL game. Love it Keelie, keep it up. :)
Love that last photo. You are beautiful! You are. I'm glad you're starting to see it. :D Deb
just in time for spring! and it looks so lovely against your red hurr. ;)
i feel pretty when i put on liquid eyeliner. i was never much to wear makeup until about a year ago, and nothing makes me feel prettier than putting on a full face. i know that's shallow. but that is honestly what makes me feel pretty.
and you are SO pretty!
I loved this post and the scarf! I can really relate to what you said here. I am feel frumpy most of the time, but I am slowly starting to notice a change. Just knowing that I am on my way to healthy makes me happier than I have been in awhile.
Oh and I like the way I feel right after I get a manicure! :)
There is something about a mani/pedi that makes me feel unstoppable! I still have a hard time looking in the mirror. I rarely do my hair and I never do my makeup. I don't feel worth it (yet). I've gotten there before and I will be there again!
You're inspiring - keep it up!
A great new outfit, that has just the right shoes & jewelry. When I put on something like this it makes me want to do my hair & makeup. So then I feel even prettier! Total win-win situation for me! :) And BTW you look great girl....just Gorgeous! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Having my hair flat-ironed makes me feel pretty. When its done, I don't even feel like I have to have makeup to look good... though its nice to have the whole package too.
And you are beautiful. :)
I just bought some scarves too. They make me feel flirty. Or whatever. I like it when my hair looks good.
Hello Beautiful!
I can so totally relate. I hated the mirror before this whole lifestyle change and also did the ponytail and some makeup occasionally. Isn't it nice to feel pretty! I love to get all glammed up and my husband give me sweet compliments. He said I was beautiful before, but the compliments are getting better ;)
I love your music!!!
eyeliner and lip gloss.
always.
These days I don't go anywhere without it.
second a cute shoe.
No more shlumpy shoes for me.
You are doing fab and you look fab.
Keep up the great work.
I'm agreeing with everyone here that YES, you are more than pretty! You are gorgeous, girl! :)
It IS a mental game and we all struggle from time to time.
For me feeling pretty is more an inner thing. When I have enough time to exercise, get outside with the dogs in God's beautiful creation, have a quiet time, read my Bible and pray. That's when I have the best outlook on life and feel positive.
Here's to many more days of feeling pretty!
