Wearing Stripes

Today I was changing shirts and my 4 year old darling happened to walk in and catch a glimpse of my bare stomach.

He giggled and said "Oh, look mommy!" pointing at my gut. "You're wearing stripes!"

"Yeah. Cool, huh?" Geesh.

Gotta love him, but stripes? Seriously. Ouch.

Of course he was referring to my stretch marks. Yes, I do have quite a few to speak of. Some of them are relatively new while others are practically native. Honestly, I don't really have a huge problem with them. I mean, I'm not losing sleep over the nasty "stripes."

But I am curious if there is some miracle cream or oil I should be aware of. Let me know.

I too have stripes... My husband calls them battle scares from when I had my daughter - bless his heart. Some of them, however, are not from her, but from me!! I can see what I have to look forward too when she gets old enough!

Stripes! So funny. It is cute when our "little" boys say it. I always hope my "big" boy (husband) just can't see them (fat chance of that). But it is true, they are our battle scars. Kids, weight gain, a few are from a HUGE growth spurt as a pre-teen. I wear them and while I don't like them, I accept them. And yes, even with accepting them, I'll be on here watching for any miracle cream or oil recommendations :)

Nothing works - if it did no woman would have stretch marks. I even had a tummy tuck - which sliced a bunch of them off but I still have quite a few - battle scars - I wear with pride from childbirth!

Kids say the funniest things! :)

I have tried cocoa butter and burts bees belly butter, but the only thing that has really worked is time...the marks have never went away, but they have faded!

If you find something that works let me know! I had four BIG babies and many "stripes" to show for it! :)

I keep hearing that Mederma for Stretch Marks works. Maybe it's worth a try?! I've never used it though.

I've got "stripes" too but they don't bother me. Right after our beautiful third child was born I had an emergency hysterectomy. That scar is way uglier than my stretch marks! Then a few years later I had an emergency appendectomy that left a 2" scar. It seems my belly is just loaded with battle scars that life brings. They really don't bother me and my dh (dear husband) doesn't mind either. :)
P.S. I'd trade my hysterectomy scar for more stretch marks (more children) in a heartbeat!

Nothing quite works for stretch marks. I use bio oil and cocoa butter it helps them fade a little but doesn't go away completely. Ive tried mederma but didnt use it that long to see a change, it was kinda pricey.
I love cocoa butter cause it helps from any other stretch marks from coming, I wish I would have thought about cocoa butter when I was in high school cause my weight fluctuated a lot then.
They don't bother me much anymore. Its life, it happens.

Hi Keelie,

I've been following your blog for quite a while. I love the pic updates! What a great reminder of how far along you've come! You look great. I keep telling myself I need to be brave and just take a before picture already!

I'm giving you a virtual Easter basket! Hershey's is willing to donate up to $5000 to Children’s Miracle Network with the help of us! It's really easy and takes a few minutes and bammmm, $10 donated!

Keep up the great work!
