Hot Date

I had a hot date tonight ♥♥♥

I was really wanting to "talk" on the way, but Mr. was more into the radio. I did get him to pose for one pic. He made me delete the video I shot. Debbie Downer.

Then I got bored. We have to drive 30 minutes to go anywhere. Since I had a camera, I began practicing my faces. Everyone does that, right?

Yes, I'm a weirdo. Okay, moving on...

We finally arrived at our favorite Steakhouse and had a wonderful dinner. I decided earlier in the day that I would order what I normally do: 7 oz. fillet, loaded baked potato and salad with ranch dressing. They also serve Shiner Bock beer bread with honey butter. I just had it all.

I probably shouldn't be encouraging this type of behavior, but I'm going to be honest. I love food and that will never change. I have gotten my impulses to binge and overeat on a regular basis under control, but I have absolutely no intentions of giving up rich, indulgent foods altogether because I enjoy eating them so. I fully intend to enjoy the best of both worlds, so to speak.
Ahh, there is such sweet freedom in discipline! How's that for a paradoxical nugget of truth?

I guess we were really hungry. Most of the bread was gone before I remembered to take a picture. My husband was embarrassed that I was taking pictures of everything. hehehehe... Get over it, dear.

Yes, this is a baked potato with sour cream, butter, cheese and bacon, a big ice cream scoop of butter on my steak and fried onion rings. I ate everything but the butter on the steak. It was really good, I must say.

I was able to pass on these, but thought them worthy of a photo shout-out. Desserts in the HOOUSE! But not in my belly...

After dinner we headed to the bookstore so I could pick up a read suggested by my one of my blogger buddies. Unfortunately they didn't have it. :( Then we took a little stroll around the mall and I got a treat that I will share later this week.

All in all , a great date with my sweetheart. And I didn't even have to unbutton my jeans on the way home. Holl-aaaaaa!

You're hubby's a cutie and you are lookin' hot lady!! :) I'm glad you are able to find a good balance between discipline and eating what you like. It just takes balance... ((sigh)) balance . . . ugh . . . lol I am motivated by your control. :)

That meal looks so good! When we go to certain restaurants I order the same decadent things I always have in the past. We don't go to these particular restaurants very often. I figure its all part of learning to live in the real world & this whole thing has to be about doing things in a way you can sustain for the rest of your life.
I think you're doing awesome! :)

I just found your blog through Scale Junkie and can I just say WOW! I'm just starting my weight loss journey at 246 pounds with a similar goal as yours, to lose 100 pounds. And as a fellow red head, I have to tell you how much I appreciate your before and after pics. I suddenly feel I can somewhat identify and see myself losing weight.

By the way, you look so much happier and healthier! Congrats!

I called you a hot momma yesterday. Today, I'm gonna go with beautiful.
You look so happy and fun to be around and your man is a hottie too.

Enjoy that steak, but butter? Really? On a steak???? I have never heard of such a thing. I won't try it either. It might be too good and I will get addicted and .... you know the rest;)

i am glad you enjoyed a good meal. and you were totally in control! that positive attitude reminds me of a great quote in a sparkpeople article on moderation:

"At a deeper level, moderation is a commitment to balance and wholeness. It is rooted in the recognition that each person has many different (and often competing) needs, desires, abilities, and goals. Living up to your full potential means finding ways to incorporate all of them into your decision-making processes and choices."

What a fun date! I love that you indulged. I think it would be easier to "mess up" or "blow it" if you didn't allow yourself to indulge once in awhile. Ya know, the whole deprivation thing.

I so had to laugh reading the first part of your post. I did a post like that once - I took so many photos of my faces while driving with my hubby. And why was that? He was too busy on the phone! Men!

Hey Keelie!
I'm glad you were able to go out on a fun date with your dear husband. You two are a darling couple! I'm with you that we have to be able to enjoy food every now and then without counting calories or depriving ourselves. We can't eat like that everyday but you obviously don't do that.

About a year ago I subscribed to Amazon Prime and I love it. I'm a homeschool mom and so I order a fair amount of books. The Prime has paid for itself a million times over. I usually get whatever I order within two days, sometimes even the next day. Just a thought if your local bookstore doesn't carry what you're looking for.

It's okay to indulge in certain occasions. Glad you see that and are able to balance it!

Obviously you're the "hot" part of the date, right? ;) You're gorgeous!

Quite frankly, I love your attitude towards food. I feel the same way: I don't smoke, I don't do drugs, and I very rarely drink - if I can't enjoy a steak dinner every once in awhile, what can I enjoy? As you said, it's all about balance.
